Accessibility Statement

Our Standard

We built this site aiming for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That's the standard most businesses use as a benchmark, and we treat it as one — not a box we've checked and walked away from.

What's In Place

Some specific things we've done:

• A "skip to main content" link at the top of every page, so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump straight past the navigation.
• A proper page structure — header, main content area, and footer are marked up as what they are, not just styled to look that way.
• The contact form on our Contact page uses real, connected labels on every field (name, phone, email, and so on), not just placeholder text that disappears when you start typing.
• Decorative images — like our small logo mark next to our name in the header — are hidden from screen readers so they don't add clutter. Photos of our actual work in the gallery carry real, descriptive alt text so you know what you're looking at even if you can't see the picture.
• Visible focus outlines when you tab through links and buttons, and color choices we've checked for reasonable contrast against our backgrounds.
• A layout that resizes and reflows for phones, tablets, and desktops rather than a fixed-width design.

Where We Fall Short

We'd rather tell you the truth than tell you it's perfect, because it isn't:

• We haven't had someone who uses a screen reader every day sit down and test this site start to finish. We've tested with keyboard navigation and automated checkers, but that's not the same thing.
• A few pieces of the site — the Google map embed on our Contact page and the review widget on our homepage — are built and hosted by other companies. We didn't code those, and we can't fix their accessibility from our end.
• Color contrast has been checked on our main text and buttons, but we haven't run every decorative element and hover state through a formal audit.
• This is a small local business site, not an enterprise product with a dedicated accessibility team. We fix what we find and what people tell us about, on an ongoing basis — this isn't a one-time project we finished and closed out.

No Overlay Widget

You won't find one of those accessibility widgets on this site — the little icon in the corner that claims to fix everything with one click. We looked into them and decided against it. Those tools sit on top of a site's code without changing it, and they can actually get in the way of screen readers and other assistive technology people already have set up the way they like it. We'd rather fix things in the actual markup, even if that means we do it slower and in pieces.
